Poistui kotoaan (‘Left home’, Tammi), a book for young people by Marja-Leena Tiainen, has been published under the title När isen smelter, translated by Helena Idström. The publisher is Høst & Søn of Copenhagen.

Poems by Gunnar Björling (1887—1960) have been published under the title You go the words. The original title is Du går de ord (Söderströms). The translator is Fredrik Hertzberg; the publisher is Action Books of Notre Dame (Indiana).

Muinaisuutemme merivallat: kuvitettu historiallinen luonnos (Otava) by Matti Klinge, has been published by Aspasia Book of Beaverton (Canada). The title is Ancient Powers of the Baltic Sea: an Illustrated Historical Outline, and the translator is Ain Haas.

Elina Hirvonen’s first novel Että hän muistaisi saman (’So she would remember the same’. Avain) has been translated by Piret Saluri. The title is Et tema mäletaks sedasama. The publisher is Varrak of Tallinn.

A novel by Risto Isomäki, Sarasvatin hiekkaa (‘Sand of Sarasvati’, Tammi) has been published by Kunst of Tallinn. The translator is Rein Priit, the title Sarasvati liiv: ökoloogiline põnevusromaan.

Essays by the late Pentti Saarikoski (1937—1983) have been published by Varrak of Tallinn, translated by Piret Saluri. The volume, entitled On või ei ole. Euroopa serval. Bretagne’i päevik, contains the works Asiaa tai ei and Euroopan reunalla (‘Something to say or not’, ‘On the edge of Europe’, Otava) and hitherto unpublished ‘Bretagnen päiväkirja’ (‘Diary of Bretagne’).

Leena Lehtolainen’s crime novel Rivo satakieli (‘The obscene nightingale’, Tammi) has been translated by Gabriele Schrey-Vasara and published by Kindler of Berlin. The title is Wer sich nicht fügenwill.

Schrey-Vasara has also translated crime novels by Matti Rönkä and Jarkko Sipilä: the titles are, respectively, Tappajan näköinen mies (‘A man looking like a killer’, Gummerus), published by Grafit of Dortmund, under the title Grenzgänger, and Likainen kaupunki (‘Dirty city’, Gummerus), entitled Die weisse Nacht des Todes, by Rowohlt Taschenbuch of Reinbek bei Hamburg.
