Women in Translation of Seattle has published a selection of women's
writing in a book called Echo. Scandinavian Stories About Girls.
The editors are Ia Dübois and Katherine Hanson. The book includes
texts by Minna Canth, Tove Jansson, Eeva Kilpi, Hagar Olsson and Irmelin
Sandman Lilius. Among the translators are Kingsley Hart and David
Barrett.
Danish
A selection of poems by Pentti Saarikoski has been selected and translated
by Hilkka and Bent Søndergaard. The title is Den gale mands
hest og andre digte ('The madman's horse and other poems'), and
the publisher is Borgens Forlag of Valby.
Hungarian
The detective novel Harjunpää ja heimolaiset ('Harjunpää
and the tribe', Otava) by Matti Yrjänä Joensuu has been
published as A nyomozó by Polar Könyvek of Budapest;
the translator is Éva Pap.
A play by Paavo Haavikko, Harald,
Pitkäikäinen ('Harald the long-lived', WSOY) has been
translated by Lajos Nagy Szopori as Hosszúéletü
Harald. The publisher is epl of Budapest.
Latvian
A children's book by Leena Krohn, Ihmisen vaatteissa ('In human
clothing', WSOY), has been published by Preses nams of Riga. The translator
is Ingrida Peldekse and the title is Cilveka dranas.
Spanish
A book about the architect Alvar Aalto, Alvar Aalto in his own
words by Göran Schildt, has been published by El Croquis
Editorial of Madrid as Alvar Aalto. De Palabra y por Escrito.
The translators are Eeva Kapanen and Ismael García Rios.
Swedish
The novel Tummien perhosten koti ('The home of the dark
butterflies', WSOY), by Leena Lander, has been translated by Camilla
Frostell and published as De mörka fjärilarnas hem
by En bok för alla of Stockholm.
Turkish
A selection of Finnish poetry, Modern Fin Siiri Seçkisi,
published by Iyi S¸eyler of Istanbul, has been selected and
translated by Kemal and Elif Özüogru. The book contains
poems by Pentti Saarikoski, Pentti Saaritsa, Caj Westerberg, Sirkka
Turkka, Arto Melleri, Jouni Inkala and Riina Katajavuori.
