     A book on Finnish history by Max Jakobson, Diplomaattien talvisota ('The Winter War of the diplomats', WSOY) has been translated by Olavi Teppan and published by Tänapaev. The title is Talvesõja diplomaatia.

French
A thriller by Leena Lehtolainen, Ensimmäinen murhani ('My first murder', Tammi) has been translated by Anne Colin du Terrail. The title is Mon premier meurtre; the publisher is Gaïa Editions of Larbey.
     Gaïa Editions has also published Riikka Ala-Harja's novel Maata meren alla (Gummerus), translated by Paula and Christian Nabais. The title is Reposer sous la mer.
     Poems from several collections by Gösta Ågren (Söderströms) have been published under the title Une vallée dans la violence. The translator is Christina Thorn and the publisher is Éditions Fédérop of Le Pont du Rôle.
     A selection of poems by the classic writer Eino Leino (1878-1926) has been published in Canada under the title Chantre de la Finlande - Choix de poèmes. The publisher is Écrits des forges of Québec, the translator is Jean-Pierre Rousseau.

The three-volume Tiarnia series (Otava) of poems by Pentti Saarikoski has been translated by Richard -Semrau and published by Edition Erata of Leipzig. The three volumes - printed also in Finnish - are Tanssilattia vuorella, Tanssiinkutsu ja Hämärän tanssit; Der Tanzplatz auf dem Berg, Aufforderung zum Tanz, Die Tänze des Dunklen.
     The first novel, Auringon asema ('The position of the sun', Otava; see Books from Finland 4/2002), by Ranya Paasonen (formerly Ranya ElRamly) has been translated by Stefan Moster under the title Der Stand der Sonne. The publisher is Deutscher Tascehnbuch Verlag of Munich.
     A thriller by Leena Lehtolainen, Tuulen puolella ('Where the wind blows from', Tammi) has been published under the title Der Wind über den Klippen. The translator is Gabriele Schrey-Vasara; the publisher is Reinbek of Hamburg.
     A novel by Arto Paasilinna, Herranen aika ('Oh my God', WSOY) has been published under the title Im Jenseits ist die Hölle los. The translator is Regine Pirschel; the publisher is Lübbe of Bergisch Gladbach.

Norwegian
A selection of poems by Marja-Liisa Vartio (1924-1966) (Otava) has been published under the title Kvinnen og landskapet; the translation and an afterword are by Nøste Kendzior, and the publisher is Solum of Grimstad.
     Kendzior has also translated the novel Mansikoita marraskuussa ('Strawberries in November', Otava) by Pirjo Hassinen. The publisher is Pax of Oslo and the title is Jordbær i november.

Swedish
A crime story by Harri Nykänen, Raid ja pelkääjät ('Raid and the scared ones', WSOY) has been translated by Laura Koskela. The title is Raid och tjallarna, the publisher is Forum of Stockholm.
     Ranya Paasonen's first novel, Auringon asema ('The position of the sun', Otava; see also German) has been published under the title Där solen står högst, translated by Mårten Westö. The publisher is Norstedts of Stockholm.
