The novel Lang (Söderströms) by Kjell Westö has been published by Harvill of London. The translator is Ebba Segerberg.
    A novel by Juhani Aho, Juha (1911, Otava), has been translated by Richard Impola and published under the same title by Aspasia Books of Beaverton (Canada).
    As a result of a poetry exchange project involving visits, translation workshops and performances in 2003, a book entitled The Flesh of the Bear: Bilingual Anthology. Poems from North East England & South West Finland was published in 2004. It includes poems by twelve poets: Marjo Isopahkala, Kalle Niinikangas, Henry Lehtonen, Tapani Kinnunen, Esa Hirvonen and Jenni Haukio from Finland, Andy Willoughby, Angela Readman, Val Magee, Jo Colley, Michael Affleck and Bob Beagrie from England. Kari Hotakainen's Finlandia Prize winning novel Juoksuhaudantie ('The Trench Road', 2002, WSOY) has been translated by Sille and Tarmo Vahter and published by Tänapäev of Tallinn. The title is Kaitsekraavi tee.
    Tove Jansson's short stories for adults, Resa med lätt bagage ('Travelling light', Schildts) has been published by Eesti Raamat of Tallinn under the title Reis kerge pagasiga. The translator is Mari Jesmin.
    A collection of poems by Yrjö Jylhä, Kiirastuli ('The purgatory', Otava) has been published under the title Puhastustuli. The translator is Tiina Pappel, the publisher is Huma of Tallinn.
    Huma has also published a book for children by Leena Laulajainen, Lumottu lipas ('The magic box', illustrations by Virpi Talvitie, Tammi). The title is Loitsitud laegas and the translator is Leelo Tungal.

The novel Jouluvaimo ('Christmas wife', Otava) by Pirjo Hassinen has been translated by Meike Frese and published under the title Samstagsfrau. The publisher is btb of Munich.
    btb has also published a novel by Kjell Westö, Vådan av att vara Skrake ('The perils of being Skrake', Söderströms). The title is Vom Risiko, ein Skrake zu sein, the translator is Paul Berf.
    The thriller Jäähyväiset rakkaimmalle ('Farewell, my dearest', WSOY) by Pentti Kirstilä has been published by Grafit Verlag of Dortmund. The translator is Gabriele Schrey-Vasara, the title is Nachtschatten.

Japanese
A book for children by Sinikka and Tiina Nopola, Heinähattu, Vilttitossu ja Littoisten riiviö ('Hayhat, Fluffshoe and the rascal of Littoinen', Tammi), has been translated by Hiroko Suenobu and published by Kodansha of Tokyo.

Latvian
Arto Paasilinna's novel Aatami ja Eeva ('Adam and Eve', WSOY) has been published under the title Adams un Ieva by Daugava of Riga. The translator is Ingrida Peldekse.

The classic novel by Aleksis Kivi, Seitsemän veljestä (Seven Brothers; 1870, Finnish Literature Society), has been translated by Valeri Alikov and published as Sym sumbel by Sarta of Joshkar-Ola.

Polish
A novel by Daniel Katz, Kun isoisä Suomeen hiihti ('When Grandad skied to Finland', WSOY), has been published by Dialog of Warsaw. The translator is Sebastian Musielak and the title is Gdy dziadek do Finlandii na nartach szedt.

Romanian
Mika Waltari's novel Mikael Karvajalka (The Adventurer; WSOY) has been translated by Teodor Palic; the publisher is Polirom of Iasi.

Swedish
A cartoon book on the late President Urho Kekkonen, entitled Kekkonen (Otava), by the graphic artist and cartoonist Matti Hagelberg has been translated by Jocke Laitala and published by Optima Press of Gothenburg.

Ukrainian
Three Moomin books by Tove Jansson, Det osynliga barnet och andra berättelser (Tales from Moominvalley), Pappan och havet (Moominpappa at Sea), Sent i november (Moominvalley in November; Schildts) have been translated by Natalya Ivanychuk and published by Vydavnyctvo Starogo Leva of Lviv. The titles are Nevidime ditjako, Tato i more and Naprikinci listopada.
