Folklore Archives
Visitors wishing to use manuscripts must firstly get in touch with the information officer in the reading room (Hallituskatu 1). The material must be returned every day after use to the information desk. Recordings can be listened to in the Sound Recordings Archive (Mariankatu 7 C). It is recommended that visitors wanting to use the collections of visual material should arrange this in advance with a staff member in the Photo Archive (Mariankatu 19 E). Requests for material are made using the request form which is given to the information officer. Requests must be made at last half an hour before the archive closes.
Literary Archives
The Literary Archives are open daily from 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. During university term time, the research room has extended hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. Temporary changes to the opening hours are notified separately. Customers are usually able to receive research material immediately. Requests for materials wanted on the same day must be left with the information officer by 3.30 p.m. at the latest. Customers requesting large quantities of visual materials or wishing to listen to recordings must arrange a time in advance. The information officer on duty can give advice on ordering material and using the archives. More detailed guidelines are available in the research room of the Literary Archives.
