Customer facilities in the Folklore Archives

The archive room of the Folklore Archives is located in the main building of the SKS at Hallituskatu 1, on the first floor to the right of the stairs. Number 1 on the map.

Services and facilities:

• Several places for customers, but visits should still be agreed in advance
• A microfilm reading device and two customer terminals
• Microfilm cards and digital material can be used, and manuscripts if agreed in advance
• Copies are available by order
• Customers can get connected to the Internet by logging into the wireless network
• Requests for materials must be made by 3.00 p.m. on the previous working day.

Visits should be agreed in advance. Visits to the Photo Archive must be agreed in advance.

Research room of the Literary Archives

The research room of the Literary Archives is located at Mariankatu 19 E (courtyard) on the second floor. Number 4 on the map.

Contact details and opening times

• The Literary Archive's freely available material can be examined in the research room.
• The room has 9 reading places, 3 microfilm reading devices of which one has a printing facility. In addition, there is a computer available for customers that can be used to read, view and listen to digital material. Customers can use their own laptop computers in the room.
• Copies of material are available on payment of a fee if copying is possible in terms of data protection and other legislation and without damaging the material. A service is available for photocopies.

Customer facilities in the Library

The library is located in the main building of the SKS at Hallituskatu 1. Number 1 on the map.

Before entering the library you can leave outer coats and bags at the cloakroom or in lockers near the library entrance in the main hall.

The library's customer facilities are on two floors. The lending office and the reference collection are located on the first floor, and the open access collections on the ground floor.

• self-service photocopier (ground floor)
  copying cards can be purchased from the lending office

Customers can use their own laptop computers, and get connected to the Internet and the electronic material available in the SKS's network by logging into the wireless network.
