The Kalevala Collection contains Finnish print editions of the national epic, abridged versions and adaptations of the text, as well as translations into over 50 languages. Items in the Kalevala Collection cannot be lent out, but the library does hold a selection of Finnish and foreign language editions, which can be borrowed.

The M6 Collection is an extensive collection of literature on proverbs, amassed by Academician Matti Kuusi. The collection contains standard Finnish texts, international classics and rare works from different parts of the world. The items in the collection are available for reading room use only, and requests for their use should be made at the Lending Office.

Old Fennica (Vanha Fennica) is a collection of Finnish literature printed during the Swedish era (1488-1809). It includes rare works by Mikael Agricola, doctoral theses from Turku Academy, and occasional verses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The collection is accessible on microfilm. A number of facsimile editions of the works is available and can be borrowed.

Old newspapers are available, primarily from the 19th century. Current newspapers are no longer subscribed. The newspapers are placed in closed stacks, and requests for their use in the reading room should be made at the Lending Office.
