Research at the Finnish Literature Society

At the research deparment of the Finnish Literature Society(Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seura, SKS) we specialise in the study of the interaction of oral and written culture, oral or singing poetry and biographical research as well as the critical examination of cultural canons and heritage.

Here, researchers and academics from folklorists to historians, linguists to ethnomusicologists and literary scholars to theologians contribute to the upholding and realisation of culture in Finland through the means of academic research. We also back interdisciplinary research projects and scholarly networks.

SKS also supports research through grants from its funds and by maintaining a research residence in Tartu.

The research department was established in 2009. We are located in Kruununhaka in Helsinki, on the third floor of the House of Nobility.
