Kati Kallio

Kati Kallio is the Finnish Literature Society’s scholarship researcher. She is also involved in the Runolaulu project which is examining and will publish the SKS’s audio material of Kalevala-metric poetry.

She is writing her doctoral thesis on interperformative relationships in the West-Ingrian Kalevala-metric singing culture for the folklore discipline at the University of Helsinki. The key themes in her work are questions relating to genre, performance and intertextuality.

Kallio wrote her master’s thesis on the West-Ingrian phonogram material in 2005. In 2008, she carried out doctoral research at the Graduate School of Cultural Interpretations and in 2009 on the Academy of Finland’s project “The Textualization of Oral Tradition and its Modern Contextualization in Finland”. She is also involved in the Doctoral Programme of Music, Theatre and Dance.
