Sakari Katajamäki is the Managing Editor of the Finnish Literature Society’s research and publishing unit Edith – Critical Editions of Finnish Literature. He coordinates the edition projects underway within Edith and acts as the secretary for Edith’s Editorial Board and the Editorial Committee of the Aleksis Kivi editions. Alongside its own research projects, the Edith unit is involved in the Variant researcher network on textual critical and scholarly editions.

The Edith unit is currently preparing an edition on Aleksis Kivi’s letters (2010–2012), dramas Kullervo (2010–2012) and Olviretki Schleusingenissa (2011–) and thee short comedies (Kihlaus, Leo ja Liina, Selman juonet, 2012–2014).

In addition to these edition projects, Katajamäki belongs to Managing Committee of two international research projects on textual scholarship: the COST project ISO704: An Interoperable Supranational Infrastructure for Digital Editions (Interedition) (2008–2012); and the COST Action A32: Open Scholarly Communities on the Web (2006–2010). Katajamäki is also a board member of the European Society for Textual Scholarship.

Katajamäki is writing his doctoral dissertation on the poem Kukunor (1949) of Lauri Viita. He has previously worked as a researcher and part-time teacher at the University of Helsinki’s Institute for Art Research and on the following research projects: Representations as semiotic artefacts (University of Helsinki, 2004–2006), and Illuminating Darkness. Rhetoric, Poetics, and European Writing (Academy of Finland, 2001–2003). In addition, he has also taught at the Sibelius Academy and the Open University of the University of Helsinki.
