Grants for Translators
Application Instructions:
Travel Grants for Translators
Translators of Finnish literature may apply for a travel grant to cover the costs of study or work trip. The same translator will only be eligible to apply for a travel grant once every two years.
The application must state the reason for the visit and must include the translator’s CV.
The FILI Advisory Board decides on all funding allocation. Applicants will be notified of grant decisions in writing within two months after the end of the application period. Grant awards remain valid for 24 months. Grant recipients are responsible for their own travel insurance.
Grants will be paid three months before the commencement of the trip. Before grants can be paid, the recipient must also sign and return the contract sent out by FILI; this is required by Finnish laws concerning state subsidies. After the trip, the recipient must provide FILI with a free-form account of the trip.
The annual deadlines for online travel grant applications are 1st April and 1st November each year. Applications and all relevant attachments must arrive at FILI by the final application deadline. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
