From Archives to Life: Lithuanian–Finnish Cultural Exchange Inspired by Professor A.R. Niemi

The seminar celebrates the unique phonograms recorded by Professor A. R. Niemi in 1911–1912, which are now being published openly online. The phonograms include, among other things, the earliest known recordings of Lithuanian polyphonic sutartinė songs. In addition to the publication, the event will provide a comprehensive look at the life’s work of A. R. Niemi and its significance for the development of cultural relations between Lithuania and Finland.
