GETTING TO TURKU

Important: When travelling from the direction of Helsinki by train (vr.fi), select "Kupittaa (Turku)" as your destination for quickest connections. When arriving from other directions or by bus, select Turku as your destination.

Fly to Turku

There are currently (Nov 2022) direct flights to Turku from Gdansk, Mariehamn, Riga, Rome, Skopje, and Stockholm, or you can book a connecting flight via Helsinki (however, it may be quicker and/or cheaper to travel from Helsinki to Turku by bus or train; see below). The Turku airport is just 8 km from the city center. Bus line number 1 (foli.fi) takes you to the city center in about 20 minutes. Taxis are also available at the airport; the taxi fare is around 25–35 euros.

Take the ferry from Sweden

Ferries from Stockholm to Turku depart daily (vikingline.fi and tallink.com). The harbor is just 3,5 km from the city center and 5 km from the university. Walk along the river or hop on bus line number 1 (foli.fi) to get to the city center. There is also a ferry (finnlines.com) from Kapellskär to Naantali, which is just 15 km from Turku, with bus lines 6 and 7 (foli.fi) running regularly from Naantali to Turku and back.

Via Helsinki

You can reach Helsinki by sea from Tallinn and Stockholm (vikingline.fi and tallink.com), or by flying to Helsinki-Vantaa international airport. From Helsinki and Helsinki-Vantaa airport, trains (vr.fi) and busses (matkahuolto.fi) depart every hour or so, and the trip to Turku takes about two hours. IMPORTANT! When travelling from the direction of Helsinki by train (vr.fi), select "Kupittaa (Turku)" as your destination for quickest connections.

Via Tampere

There are also direct international flights to Tampere. From Tampere airport, bus line 103 (https://www.nysse.fi/en/airport.html) takes you directly to the train and bus station in about 30 minutes. From Tampere, you reach Turku in about two hours by either bus (matkahuolto.fi) or train (vr.fi) with several departures throughout the day.
