Literacy in Nineteenth-Century Finland
The research network "Literacy in Nineteenth-Century Finland" investigates how literary culture developed in Finland alongside a culture that was based on oral history and the spoken word. The central questions are: when did ordinary people begin to write, how did they acquire their skill, and what did they write and why.
The research network is coordinated by Associate Professor Anna Kuismin and its members include researchers from different universities in Finnish language, history, literature, folklore studies, information science, religion, science and social history. By contacting Anna Kuismin you can join the mailing list of the network seminar.
