Data protection for users of services of the Finnish Literature Society
This is a privacy notice of the Finnish Literature Society regarding to the processing of personal data in accordance with sections 10 and 24 of the personal data act and articles 12 and 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

SKS uses personal data saved in the register of online services for carrying out customer relationships, positions of trust and processes related to grants, publishing books, handling material as part of the cultural heritage, conducting scientific and historical research, carrying out marketing activities, compiling statistics and producing and providing services.

Cookies are used to collect data about the preferences of website users, such as the pages visited and the time spent on each page. In addition, we can use cookies to target and measure marketing activities.

SKS processes personal data in its operations
We process personal data saved in registers of SKS in decision-making processes, processes related to positions of trust, customer relationships and grants, archiving, research, translations, employment relationships, recruitment and facility security arrangements.
We process personal data as required in the EU GDPR and other legislation. We process personal data with care and protect the data being processed properly. We process data confidentially. Furthermore, data can only be accessed by employees who need the data in their work-related tasks.
SKS does not disclose any registered data to third parties. We use agreements to ensure that our service providers that take part in the processing of personal data comply with the data protection legislation.
SKS processes personal data for as long as is necessary for customer relationships or other defined purposes of use.
As a user of services, you have the right*
- to access your personal data
- to have your data rectified
- to restrict the processing of your data
- to have your data erased
- to transfer your data from one system to another
- to file a complaint with the supervisory authority
All requests regarding personal data must be sent in writing to SKS customer service locations. We will verify your identity before handling your request. As a data subject, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman if you consider that we are in breach of the data protection legislation when we process your personal data.
