You can apply for a promotional grant for new or recently published translations of Finnish books abroad. Grants will be awarded only for the purpose of covering travel expenses incurred by Finnish authors attending promotional events or translation launches. > Read more

The original work must have been published in Finland. The aim of sample translation grants is to secure foreign publishers for works to be translated. > Read more

You can apply for a translation grant and a production grant for a comic book or graphic novel translated from Finnish, Finland-Swedish or Sámi directly into other languages.

You can apply for a translation grant for a work translated from Finnish, Finland-Swedish or Sámi directly into another language. The original work must have been published in Finland. The genres covered by these grants are prose, poetry, literature for children and young people and published drama scripts (i.e. with an ISBN). In the category of non-fiction, works of general non-fiction, essays and memoirs are eligible.

You can apply for a grant for translation of foreign fiction or non-fiction into Finnish. The aim of the Foreign Literature into Finnish programme is to promote the publication of non-commercial quality foreign literature in Finland.

Do you translate Finnish literature into other languages literature from another language into Finnish?

FILI does not offer grants directly to Finnish translators. Finnish publishers can apply for grants to support the translation of foreign and Sámi-language literature or non-fiction into Finnish.
