Come and visit us

You’re welcome to get acquainted with the activities and facilities of SKS!

Visits intended for groups include a presentation of the operations and services of SKS and a tour of the main building. We design the visit according to your wishes.

We offer archival pedagogy workshops for schoolchildren and students, where children and young people are encouraged to both interpret cultural heritage and to produce it themselves.

The presentations and workshops are free of charge.

Workshops on different themes

In our archival pedagogy workshops, the participants have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with cultural heritage materials on site at SKS. The workshops support the realisation of children’s and young people’s cultural rights and cultural heritage education.

We can adapt our workshops according to your wishes and schedules. The workshops are suitable for different ages, from preschoolers to senior secondary school students. You should reserve 1.5 to 2 hours for the visit, in addition to the travel time.

Among others, the themes of our workshops include:

  • Finnish and Karelian folk poetry and the Kalevala
  • What is an archive?
  • Finnish popular religion
  • Childhood and youth then and now
  • Local cultures and identities
  • Wishes and fears related to technology

We produce new workshop concepts according to need.

We are happy to give tips on how to prepare for the visit and how to work on the topic after the visit.

We also present the operations and materials of SKS remotely. We design the content and duration of the presentation according to your needs.
