Accessibility
We want to serve you in the best possible way! Ensuring accessibility in the SKS main building at Hallituskatu 1 in Helsinki, which was completed in 1890, is challenging, but we do our best to accommodate you.
Below you will find the most important instructions and tips for a successful visit. If you need more information, please contact us. Welcome!
Entrance
The main door of SKS is located at Hallituskatu 1, but the obstacle-free entrance to the main building is on the Mariankatu side. You can get in by calling 040 534 8933 or pressing the buzzer at the front door on the Mariankatu side. We will assist you in getting inside. There are a lot of stairs to negotiate when walking in from the main door on the Hallituskatu side.
Lift
The SKS main building has a lift that can accommodate a pram or wheelchair. If you need help opening the door of the lift, call +358 40 534 8933 and we will help you.
Toilet
An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor of the SKS main building; it can be reached from the other floors by lift.
Induction loop
The great hall of SKS has a listening amplifier.
Great hall
SKS events are mainly held in the great hall of the Society, which is located on floor 2 of Hallituskatu 1. When you come to our events, please follow the entrance instructions above. Because there is no fixed furniture, the great hall has plenty of space for prams or wheelchairs, for example.
Following events online
Many of SKS’s events can also be followed online. If the event can be followed remotely, we will tell you about this in the SKS events calendar when the event is described.
Assistance dogs
Assistance and guide dogs are welcome to SKS.
Parking space
SKS has no parking space of its own. As a rule, parking in the vicinity of the SKS main building is subject to a fee on weekdays from 9 AM to 9 PM and on Saturdays from 9 AM to 6 PM. Check the fee status of a parking space from the traffic sign.
